How to Reach People Not Using Social Media
If you haven’t noticed, there is a big push for using social media in the world of business and marketing. Well, what if the people you are trying to reach still don’t know anything about blogging or give you funny looks when you start to talk about “twittering?” You might have to think a little more about your audience’ social media destinations.
Marshall Kirkpatrick of ReadWriteWeb posted an article that may help you “walk in other people’s shoes” as you learn how to better utilize social media. Here are few interesting points:
- A site that attracts millions of professionals, but you don’t often think of as social media is LinkedIn.com. This site maybe more suited for networking and finding potential clients in specified areas.
- Another site to think about is YouTube.com. “There were 5 billion videos watched on YouTube just by people in the US in July 2008.” That means there are a lot of people flocking to this video-based social media site, even people who may not spend all their time glued to a computer screen.
- Bring your RSS Feeds to the people. While Web Geeks may gather all their feeds in Google Reader or Bloglines, some folks prefer only to read email. With services like Feedblitz.com or Feedburner.com, you can send the RSS Feeds directly to their inbox. Tywebbin Creations utilizes both services for this blog and client blogs.

Ty, I’ve been meaning to share with you how beautiful this page is. Did you design it? Lovely.
Yep. It’s a little different…okay a lot different from the corporate look I had before, but it definitely represents more of my personality.
